"Her Majesty" by Michael Heath
Invoking Ares
Mikayla Faivre
Emerald smudges splattered
among teak timber
Transparent droplets
cascading down tan skin
Luminous splashes of lunar light
irradiate the carnage
A contradiction
to dull earth
Halting silence
flashes of amber blaze
Corpses plunging
back to Mother
Crimson ribbons
no longer hidden
Blistering infernal heat
yet somehow
chilled to the marrow
